Introduction: A New Way to See Your Layouts
We’re rolling out an open beta for a new Gridible feature we think will be a game-changer: Grid Overlay. This feature applies a visual grid overlay to the Gutenberg editor, based on your template’s content size, giving you immediate feedback as you build layouts.
The grid responds dynamically to the preview size you select in the WordPress toolbar, so you can see how your design behaves across all breakpoints. All without leaving the editor.
Whether you’re fine-tuning alignment or just trying to understand how content flows within a template, the new grid overlay feature will make the invisible structure of your layout visible.
Template-Based Grid Width Control
Grid Overlay is configured at the template level, giving you precise control over how each layout behaves. From the template view, you can choose the grid width that best fits your design goals—content, wide, or full.
Once set, any page, post, or custom post type using that template will automatically display the corresponding overlay. This per-template customization ensures consistency across your site while still allowing flexibility where you need it most.
Toggle the Grid When You Need It
We know that sometimes you want guidance and sometimes you want a clean canvas. That’s why Grid Overlay can be easily toggled on or off at the page, post, or custom post type level.
Simply open the Gridible Sidebar and switch the grid visibility on or off as needed.
This makes it easy to check alignment during layout work, then step back and view your content without visual aids.

Grid Overlay is launching as an open beta, and we’re excited to see how it helps our clients better understand Gridible and the power of grid-based layouts.
