Project Overview
Decades had passed since its last significant update, and with a fresh brand, communication strategy and its 10-year anniversary approaching, the Foley Foundation website failed to reflect its narrative accurately. Additionally, it lacked ADA compliance, mobile responsiveness, and modern digital storytelling capabilities.
With our partners at MG Strategy + Design, Unrelated led a comprehensive digital storytelling transformation, harnessing the latest features of WordPress’ CMS platform. Introducing streamlined landing pages facilitated users’ exploration of specific areas, leading to increased engagement.
Enhancements in WCAG compliance, faster load times, and the implementation of user-friendly blocks and patterns empower admins for efficient site management sans expert assistance.

Design & Brand Re-Envisioning
While the Foley Foundation had recently introduced a new logo, the broader brand system had not yet been fully articulated across digital and print touchpoints. Our role was to help translate the Foundation’s mission, values, and evolving narrative into a cohesive, flexible visual language that could scale across platforms.
Working closely with the Foley Foundation and MG Strategy + Design, we refined the brand’s color palette, typography, and overall visual hierarchy to better support clarity, accessibility, and emotional resonance. These refinements informed both the website and supporting print materials, ensuring consistency across communications while leaving room for storytelling and growth.
The resulting design system balances gravity and hope—reflecting the Foundation’s serious mission while remaining human, welcoming, and forward-looking. Thoughtful use of typography, restrained color application, and clear content structure allowed stories, programs, and calls to action to take center stage without visual noise.

Replatforming to WordPress for Scalable Storytelling
To support the Foundation’s long-term goals, we led a full replatforming from Squarespace to WordPress. This decision was driven by the need for greater flexibility, custom storytelling capabilities, and a CMS that could grow alongside the organization over the next decade.
On WordPress, we built a robust, custom foundation that empowers the Foley Foundation’s team to manage content independently—without sacrificing design integrity. Modular blocks and patterns allow administrators to create new pages, landing experiences, and campaign content quickly, while maintaining consistency and accessibility standards.
The new platform also enabled significant performance and compliance improvements, including enhanced WCAG alignment, faster load times, and mobile-first responsiveness. Together, these upgrades transformed the website from a static informational presence into a dynamic, future-ready storytelling platform designed to engage supporters, educators, and partners alike.
