Events Block Update: Now Supporting Virtual and In-Person Locations

WordPress interface for event post type interface and settings.

We’ve recently updated our Events Plugin to better support how events are experienced today, whether they happen in person, online, or both.

Events can now be configured with a clear event location type, allowing editors to designate an event as in person or virtual. For in person events, location details can be added and managed directly within the event. For virtual events, editors can specify online access information, making it easier for audiences to understand how and where to participate.

Alongside these updates, we’ve introduced a new block designed for use within the event post template. This block allows editors to surface event location information dynamically, ensuring the correct details are displayed based on how the event is configured.

Together, these improvements make event management more flexible and more consistent across Amplify sites. By separating configuration from presentation, editors can confidently create events while maintaining clean, reusable templates that adapt to each event’s format.
