Urban Initiatives partnered with Unrelated and our partners at MG Strategy + Design to redesign and rebuild their website to better reflect their mission of empowering youth through sports-based development.

The organization needed a modern, approachable digital presence that could clearly communicate their impact, support fundraising efforts, and serve a wide range of audiences including families, partners, and donors.

The new site was designed to elevate their brand, highlight programs and outcomes, and provide a more intuitive experience across devices.

Please note, the live site reflects ongoing updates by the client and may differ from the original launch.

We led a full design and development upgrade, focusing on clarity, accessibility, and performance. The visual system balances warmth and energy with structure, using bold photography, clear typography, and flexible layouts to showcase stories and program information.

On the development side, the site was rebuilt on WordPress with a modular, component-based approach, allowing the Urban Initiatives team to easily manage and expand content over time. The result is a scalable, mobile-first website that supports storytelling, improves usability, and strengthens the organization’s digital foundation.

The redesigned Urban Initiatives website provides a strong platform for continued growth, helping the organization better connect with supporters and communities while adapting to future needs.

With a clearer narrative, improved usability, and a flexible technical foundation, the site supports Urban Initiatives’ ongoing efforts to expand their reach and deepen their impact across Chicago and beyond.
